Christmas preparations

It seems that August/September time is the period where crafters begin to create for Christmas. It does indeed take weeks to find creativity and inspiration and then the time to sit down and make the cards or other items, certainly in quantities that suffice for sales or gifts and greetings.

Mine has been September. Maybe the return to work and school, for many this year, 2020, after the long, drawn out lockdown for Covid 19 virus drama.

I have lots of cards from the past but new skills and ideas need to be tried too, and I have found some positive inspiration and some … mistakes, shall we call them?

I make cards that sometimes fall flat – look empty, just bits stuck on and no depth or satisfaction for me, let alone those receiving them or buyers. They annoy me and sometimes I can have another go and improve them, other times just start again using parts of them and tossing the rest!

Today was a good day for inspiration. Unintended time given to several male Christmas cards found inspiration and the self-satisfaction that comes with something I like and would be happy to send and/or receive myself!

Inspiration from where?

This time, inspired by the ‘stag’ for men and also dark, deep colours and for some reason the tartan effect and Scottish highland designs I found again. One was a magazine freebie of fab highland wildlife toppers and tartan papers, the other the wooden stag toppers and also stamps that I have used in the past. Check out the men’s section of the Chrismas cards (search ‘men’) to have a look at these.

Also some Birthday cards as the greetings relate to that too but have swapped and shared, mixed and matched with other resources I already had.
