What sort of cards?

Here are a few samples of the type of cards I make so you can have a look around. There are so many ideas and options for cards but I think all crafters develop their own style in time, the methods they use, the focus of the occasion or person it’s for maybe.

I suppose with a matriarchal family women have been my inspiration. But also, the ‘prettiness’ of the card once completed that I like to look at over and over again. I did once struggle to let my daughters have the best ones to send to friends, at a time when I was starting out but developing my art. And that was also a moment of appreciation when they became ‘good enough’ to share with friends (and they might be judged on my abilities as young people do!)

The inspiration as I’ve said before, is almost anything! The girls too used to collect ribbons, bows, buttons or papers for me. It’s been a thing anyway as a ‘waste no, want not’ upbringing with my dad, alonsgside the wish to keep pretty things around to enjoy!

A piece of ribbon off a new top or rope on a gift bag, a pretty decoration on a box or other card from the past as well as new toppers for sale and new ideas from magazines and shops!

For example, these three – the first, pictures I took at a holiday apartment from the cutely decorated bathroom items hung on the walls and pictures, too, printed out on photo paper; the butterfly die I tried in various ways when I got it free in a magazine; and using not only the individual fish and shapes for card toppers but also the whole silhouette base too was another option!

Items take from old cards received and re-utilised for new cards I made!
